40 Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
This course is US EPA External Training Program Certified. It is designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR 1910.120. HAZWOPER 40 is required for workers that perform activities that expose or potentially expose them to hazardous substances.
Air Monitoring for Emergency Response (AMFER)
This course is US EPA External Training Program Certified. It is a 2-day, 16-hour course that instructs participants in the practices and procedures for monitoring airborne hazardous materials. It is designed for personnel who evaluate airborne releases of hazardous materials. Evaluation of worker exposure to these releases is emphasized. Topics that are discussed include air monitoring programs, techniques and equipment; instrument calibration and limitations; exposure guidelines; air dispersion modeling; and health-and-safety considerations. The course will include operating procedures for specific air monitoring equipment, as well as strategies for air monitoring at releases of hazardous chemicals.
Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT)
This course is US EPA External Training Program Certified. It is a 3-day, 24-hour course that emphasizes how to properly respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials for the purpose of mitigating the release in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii). This course is designed for the first responders (firefighters, law enforcement, hazmat team members and environmental personnel responding to emergencies). Individuals should have awareness and operations level training prior to attending this course. Topics that are discussed include emergency response plans, characteristics of hazardous materials, toxicology, information resources, container identifications, incident command for hazardous materials, control contain and confinement of materials, chemical protective clothing, monitoring instruments, and decontamination. NOTE: A medical evaluation in accordance with the Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.134 is necessary in order to attend this course.
Sampling for Hazardous Materials (SFHM)
This course is US EPA External Training Program Certified. It is a 2.5-day, 20-hour introductory course that provides classroom and field instruction for the environmental sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment and waste. It is intended for individuals with no sampling experience, personnel performing program inspection or oversight, and as a refresher for those returning to field activities. Air sampling is specifically addressed in "Air Monitoring for Hazardous Materials" and is not discussed in this course. Sampling basics are presented for waste, groundwater, soils, surface water, and sediments. Concepts of sampling plan development and field screening are summarized to familiarize the student with the Triad approach to sample planning.
8 Hour HAZWOPER—Refresher
This course meets the requirements in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for eight hours of annual refresher training for workers at hazardous waste sites. This course is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards. Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, safety and health plans, hazardous chemicals, safety hazards, air monitoring, medical surveillance, site control, decontamination, personal protective equipment, and respiratory equipment. This course covers the topics in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120. Prerequisites: Enrollment is open to those who have already completed the 40-hour or 24-hour HAZWOPER training.
8 Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor
This course is to certify individuals who have already taken the 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training. This course is aimed specifically at on-site managers and supervisors directly responsible for or who supervise employees engaged in hazardous waste operations. The HAZWOPER Supervisor course offers specialized training on such topics as, but not limited to, the employer’s safety and health program, spill containment program, and health hazard monitoring procedure and techniques.
8 Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor—Refresher
This annual 8-hour course is required to maintain accreditation for 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
HAZMAT—4 hours PCB Awareness
The 4 hour course provides an overview of physical and chemical properties of PCB as well as the history, health effects, and regulations related it. The course shall focus on the latest policies and regulatory developments from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), specifically on those requirements that apply to owners and users of equipment containing PCBs.
HAZMAT—PCB Awareness
The 2 hour course is designed to provide practical information on the management of PCB for those individuals who are concerned with the use, storage, treatment, disposal, removal, or spill clean up of polychlorinated biphenyls. The course shall focus on the latest policies and regulatory developments from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), specifically on those requirements that apply to owners and users of equipment containing PCBs.
