BSI launches scheme for facilities management

BSI launches first certification scheme for facilities management

BSI, the business improvement company, recently launched a certification scheme and supporting training courses to help organizations develop, implement, and maintain effective facilities management across all operations.

The global facility management market was valued at $31.96 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach a market value of $64.5 billion by 2023[1]. In order to support this growth, it’s vital that organizations can apply an integrated and consistent approach to facilities management, regardless of the site, location or country.

This new scheme, which is part of BSI’s wider Built Environment offering, is based on the international standard ISO 41001 Facility management. Management systems. Requirements with guidance for use. To achieve certification to the standard, organizations undergo an independent assessment including a rigorous on-site audit covering all the requirements of ISO 41001.

ISO 41001 recognizes the value facilities management delivers as part of an organization’s strategic direction. It provides guidance to organizations on how to manage the life cost and usability of assets, services and obligations to workspace users and control the environmental impacts of operations.

Carlos Pitanga, Chief Operations Officer Americas Assurance at BSI, commented: “As organizations focus on delivering a sustainable workplace that responds to evolving technologies and user needs, facilities management has an important role to play. This certification scheme helps organizations to recognize the scope of their responsibilities and create a management structure, with appropriate resources to fulfil the needs of stakeholders and will help them to ensure effective operations, minimize unnecessary cost and deliver tangible value for business. Most importantly, it will help them to build organizational resilience and business success.”
