Space debris mitigation

BS ISO 24113:2018 Space systems -- Space debris mitigation requirements defines the primary space debris mitigation requirements applicable to all elements of unmanned systems launched into or passing through near-Earth space, including launch vehicle orbital stages, operating spacecraft and any objects released as part of normal operations.

Nick Fleming, Head of Manufacturing at BSI said: “Space debris can pose a significant threat to spacecraft and other objects, such as satellites with the commercialization of space and space travel. This standard will help reduce and manage these risks and has been developed with the input of the UK space community. BSI would like to thank its national UK committee ‘ACE/68 Space Operation’ and the ISO/TC 20/SC 14/WG 7 Convenor, Dr Hedley Stokes for their commitment to developing this important industry standard.”
