FAQs

How do I become a BSI Member?

You can apply online and pay with a credit card. Alternatively, you can contact our Customer Relations team on +44 845 086 9001.

How much does it cost to become a BSI Member?

The cost of Membership depends on the type and size of your organization and can be from as little as £213 + VAT. View our pricing page for more information.

When does my Membership start?

Your Membership will be active as soon as we have processed your payment and set up your contract. You will then receive your certificate and membership QR code by email.

I’m ISO 9001 certified. Does this mean I’m a Member of BSI?

No. Certification (sometimes referred to as registration) and Membership are different. Membership grants no award or status to a company, but is a benefits package available to all companies, organizations and individuals for an annual fee.

Is BSS Membership the same as BSI Membership?

No. BSS is the UK standards users' society which is administered by BSI. Joining BSS will help you to keep up-to-date with standards developments and implementation and also benefit from the guidance, support and practical experience of others in the application of standards. Find out more about BSS.

Can I use the BSI logo when I become a Member?

As a Member, you can display your badge of excellence across all of your channels (e.g. website, social media pages, email signature) to show your commitment to quality. You can also promote your BSI Membership in plain text in your communications and include a copy of your Membership QR code for your customers to scan. You cannot use the BSI logo by itself. Find out more here.

If you need to obtain a copy of your Membership badge, please email cservices@bsigroup.com.

Can I download a standard immediately and pay later?

Yes, if you register you’re able to login and use our online credit facility. You’ll be sent an invoice later.

Can I visit BSI to look at standards?

Yes. BSI Subscribing Members can look at standards in the BSI Members' Reading Room at our head office in London for free. There's a £20 per hour charge for all other non-Members. We need at least 48 hours' notice for visits so that we can arrange any materials needed for study and to contact security for car park access. BSI committee members, journalists and students with proof of student status can also look at standards free of charge.

How do I renew my membership?

Your renewal will be sent to the Membership Administration Contact in your organization 60 days prior to the renewal of your membership subscription. An invoice will then be sent either by email if you have given us an e-invoicing address or to the Membership Administrator. You can pay for your renewal by BACS transfer or credit card by calling us on +44 345 086 9001. BACS payments can take up to 5 working days to process.

Who is my Membership Administrator?

The Membership Administrator is usually the person who originally signed up to membership.

They are responsible for:

  • Authorising and requesting users to order on the shop and pay by invoice
  • Requesting additional accounts that may wish to purchase using the organization’s membership
  • Updating any contact details for the membership
  • Receiving the membership certificate
  • Nominating a representative from the company to vote at the BSI AGM.

How do I change the Membership Administrator or AGM contact for my organization?

If you would like to nominate a new Membership Admin contact, or nominate a representative to vote at the AGM, please email cservices@bsigroup.com providing us with up to date contact details for the new contacts.

How can I tell if my organization is a member?

Anyone registered with BSI against a valid BSI Subscribing Membership account will be identified as a member within their account when logged in. If you think that your organization is a member but you aren’t flagged as such, please call our Customer Relations team on +44 345 086 9001.
