Since our last newsletter, further progress has been made in the development of the new British Standard for Vehicle Damage Repair, BS 10125.
The draft is now available for two months for public comment. The BSI Technical committee responsible for its development known as SVS/20 (for automotive services) welcomes all feedback. The committee is made up of a selection of all stakeholders from the industry including representatives from the bodyshops, insurance companies and consumer groups.
Be amongst the first to explore the intial changes in detail. You can submit your comments online using the easy-to-use Draft Review System. Take a look at the initial draft here.
The BSI Technical Committee, known as SVS/20, has recently received a request from the National Association of Bodyshops to postpone progress in the development of the new standard, BS 10125. This is in connection with the forthcoming Competition and Markets Authority report (previously named the Competition Commission) regarding the ongoing investigation into the repair market.
The schedule for the drafting of BS 10125 has been in place and agreed for some considerable time and part of that process is for the document to be made available for public comment so that any person or organization that has an interest can make any comments they wish.
In response, the committee has written to CMA and NAB and advised that if there is such a request, the comment can be submitted, as can all other comments via the BSI Draft Review system, now that the draft is live. The committee looks forward to receiving all feedback including those from the National Association of Bodyshops.
Look out for us at Thatcham Repair Focus on Thursday 12th June. The event offers body repair professionals, product suppliers, technicians and insurers the opportunity to get aquainted with the latest technologies and repair solutions.
