Supporting inclusive digital transformation

Digitalization contributes to socio-economic development, enhances connectivity and provides access to trade and services. It is an accelerator of economic growth but some countries are at an early stage in the digital transformation journey.

We’ve developed a standards-based digitalization toolkit to support developing and emerging countries taking the steps on this journey.

International standards play a key role, building trust and confidence, and ensuring a resilient, digital society is built, where no one is left behind.

Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria, Brazil and South Africa are some of the countries we're supporting to progress their digital transformation and apply the toolkit.

BSI's standards-based digitalization toolkit will help:

  • Build trust and provide confidence in the digital transformation process
  • Manage risks around cybersecurity, privacy, interoperability and digital ID
  • Facilitate digital trade
  • Support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Complement stakeholders legislation and regulation
  • Accelerate digitalization and the adoption of new technology

What exactly is the toolkit?

The toolkit includes:

  • A policy roundtable for senior stakeholders highlighting the role international standards can play in digital transformation and trade and why they should be embedded in digitalization strategies.
  • A four-day capacity-building programme on how international standards can tackle the real-life issues countries are facing.
