The demand for frozen food has raised rapidly in recent years which brings food safety a critical area of concern for consumers. In view of this, based on the request of Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd, BSI Group gathered twenty-one different food brand companies, universities, logistic associations to create and issue "PAS 1018:2017, Indirect, temperature-controlled refrigerated delivery services. Land transport of refrigerated parcels with intermediate transfer" ("PAS 1018") for refrigerated & chilled parcel delivery services on February 28, 2017. PAS 1018 became the first international standard on cold chain management in the world and is expected to be transformed into ISO international standards in year 2020.
In order to promote the implementation and usage of the standard in the industrial sectors of Food, Hospitality, Logistic and Supply Chain Management, BSI Hong Kong will collaborate with The Institute of Purchasing & Supply of Hong Kong ("IPSHK") and a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony was held on 4 January 2019. Mr Enoch Lee, General Manager of BSI Hong Kong signed MOU with Mr Dannies Ho, Vice Chairman of IPSHK. Both parties will develop cooperative projects for the industries.
