Green Deal for advisors

You can provide access to the Green Deal for many homeowners and businesses in the UK. As an existing domestic or non-domestic energy advisor, you will help deliver energy saving improvement advice to properties nationwide. You could be the first point of contact for anyone who wants to enter into a Green Deal plan.

BSI and NES (National Energy Services) are working in partnership to operate a certification scheme for Organisations providing a Green Deal Advice Service.  With over 125 years of combined experience; NES are the recognised leaders in improving energy efficiency, whilst BSI brings expert knowledge for all areas of assessment and certification.

What is a Green Deal Advisor?

As a Green Deal advisor you will carry out the initial home assessment before the homeowner can enter into a Green Deal plan. You will also make recommendations for appropriate energy efficiency measures. This means assessing a building’s energy performance, covering everything from existing insulation to the number of building occupants and regional weather. You will need existing technical knowledge and good communication skills to get the job done properly. Property owners will look to you to provide suitable recommendations for energy saving measures.

How do I become a Green Deal Advisor?

You will need to meet the requirements set out in the National Occupational Standards for Green Deal Advisors. You’ll also need to be employed by an organization that has signed the Green Deal Code of Practice and appears on the Green Deal Register. The organization will also require certification to the relevant Green Deal Scheme Specification.

Contact us today to become a certified Green Deal Advisor and we will provide you with an application pack.

Why choose BSI?

BSI is one of the first wave of UKAS accredited Certification bodies for the Green Deal appointed by DECC (The Department of Energy and Climate Change) to certify providers, installers and advice organizations. We have also helped to develop a standard (PAS 2030) for Green Deal installers.
