BSI receives ICW endorsement for Collaborative Business Relationships standard BS 11000

BSI, the business standards company, is the first certification body to be officially recognized by the Institute of Collaborative Working’s (ICW) BS 11000 Certification Validation scheme. The scheme, which was created in response to the lack of a common approach to company assessments and certifications to BS 11000, will aim to establish a credible and consistent approach.

In the absence of a UKAS accredited scheme, the ICW has established its own scheme to validate certification bodies based around the principles of a UKAS scheme. However, there will be additional focus on validating the collaborative ethos which underpins the requirements of BS 11000.

In order to gain Validation, BSI’s certification processes and assessor training for BS 11000 were independently assessed by the ICW to ensure the underlying principles for the adoption and implementation of BS 11000 to enhance the effectiveness and use of collaborative working were met.

Organizations in sectors such as defence, construction and infrastructure and transport have been amongst the first to recognize the benefits of certification to BS 11000. The ICW’s BS 11000 Certification Validation scheme will provide these companies with confidence that their certification is both rigorous and consistent.

Carla Whyte, performance management specialist at BSI said: “As adoption of BS 11000 continues to grow, there is a need to ensure a common perspective for all assessments and we welcome the ICW’s scheme to support that need. This scheme will provide organisations and industry the opportunity to recognize a validated common approach and increase the integrity of the certification process.”
