PAS 2395, Specification for the assessment of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the whole life cycle of textile products is out for public comment until 6 November 2013.
Used in conjunction with PAS 2050 – the world’s first framework methodology for product carbon footprinting, ISO/TS 14067 or WRI/WBCSD’s GHG Product Protocol, PAS 2395 offers supplemental information allowing those within the textile industry to more effectively assess and reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and impacts. It includes sector specific requirements and related guidance.
Sponsored by Korea National Cleaner Production Center (KNCPC)-Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), the new PAS is being developed to meet the GHG assessment needs of the international textiles industry and is therefore designed to apply globally, reflecting the world-wide span of most textiles supply chains. Contributing to the development of the standard is a versatile Steering Group of international industry experts, GHG assessment practitioners, academia, policy makers and representatives of other key stakeholder groups.
