Jim Yarbrough named as one of the 2021 Rock Stars of the Supply Chain by Food Logistics

The award recognizes influential individuals in the global cold food supply chain

Food Logistics, the only publication exclusively dedicated to covering the movement of product through the global cold food supply chain, reveals the winners of its 2021 Rock Stars of the Supply Chain award.

Jim Yarbrough, head of global intelligence at BSI, has been named as a recipient of Food Logistics’  2021 Rock Stars of the Supply Chain award for his work with the global supply chain.

This award recognizes influential individuals in the industry whose achievements, hard work and vision have helped to shape the global cold food supply chain. This year’s list includes individuals from software providers, consultancies and academia, trucking and transportation firms, grocery retail and delivery outlets, and more, all who have met and exceeded in safety, efficiency, productivity and innovation throughout the global cold food supply chain.

Jim was specifically recognized for his efforts to harness the power of BSI’s global intelligence program and SCREEN (Supply Chain Risk Exposure Evaluation Network) platform. Using these tools, Jim and his team focused much of their efforts last year on analyzing and providing actionable insights related to the global cold food supply chain, which, like many industries, was severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to serve not only cold-food-focused clients, but the global food supply chain, Jim was instrumental in providing open and complimentary access to all Covid-19-related information from SCREEN to the broader business community. Within SCREEN, Jim’s team provided intelligence on a myriad of cold food supply chain topics such as cargo theft of food products from vehicles and warehouses, food fraud and safety risk, and smuggling of illegal drugs through food supply chains, to name a few. In doing so, Jim provided a comprehensive view of what risk looked like in the global cold food supply chain and how organizations could use this information to better protect themselves, their employees, and their supply chain.

“These professionals are making waves in an industry upended by the global pandemic. Whether it’s pivoting into a different channel or implementing emerging technologies, these supply chain leaders prove that hard work pays off,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “These winners collaborated, optimized, developed, educated and played a critical role in the survival and success of their company amid a global pandemic. I am honored to recognize these individuals, and continue to extend my utmost gratitude to everyone in the cold food supply chain industry for their time, efforts and innovations to keep food moving through the chain in a safe and efficient manner.”

“SCREEN is a subscription service that serves the supply chain community with invaluable intelligence and insight, however as it became clear exactly how disruptive Covid-19 was becoming, and the lasting impacts it was likely to have on the supply chain, we wanted to use the power of the platform to help as many companies, organizations, and individuals as we could,” said Yarbrough. “So we consolidated all of our Covid-related intelligence and opened it to everyone.”

Recipients of this year’s award will be profiled in the March 2021 print issue. Go to www.FoodLogistics.com to view the full list of all 2021 Rock Stars of the Supply Chain winners.
