The Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) Ecolabelling Program, operates a national third-party, independently verified ecolabel, in conformance with Environmental labels and declarations (ISO 14024), that can be applied to a wide range of products and services.
GECA’s Ecolabel program is internationally recognized through GECA’s membership of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN). Those that meet GECA standard requirements are assessed by an independent auditor such as BSI, and licensed by GECA to display the Environmental Choice Australia Ecolabel.
Previously, consumers would have purchased products because it’s: inexpensive, looks good, durable and well branded. Studies are showing that most consumers today are willing to consider ‘environmental impacts’ in their purchasing decisions. GECA was the first third-party ecolabel on the Australian market, and today, is still the most recognizable.
Since 2001, the GECA Ecolabel has provided consumers, manufacturers, suppliers, project managers and procurement officers with an independent, reliable and convenient way to select products and services that deliver better environmental outcomes.
The voluntary Australian Environmental Labelling Standards (AELS) developed by GECA are designed to give manufacturers, distributors, and marketers the financial benefits of dealing in and producing environmentally preferable products.
