New BSI facility in Seoul

PRESS RELEASE

August 16, 1999

Companies in Korea gained a major boost with the official opening of a new facility in Seoul for management system registration by BSI Quality Services Korea, a subsidiary of the UK-based global quality assurance leader BSI.

Offering local companies independent registration of their management systems, BSI Quality Services Korea helps them prove that they are top-class companies with high-quality management systems in place to help them succeed.

In addition to ISO 9000, the international management system standard, BSI Quality Services Korea also provides local access to accredited registration for QS 9000, and ISO 14001, the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems.

Mr Cheon Jung-kee, President of BSI Quality Services Korea, said: "This new facility is proving to be a major asset for our clients, who include leading companies in Korea like the Samsung and LG Groups and our newest customer, Daewoo Corporation Engineering & Construction. We are already working with more than 100 clients throughout the country."

Mr Cheon continued: "In today's international marketplace, we recognise how important it is to provide organisations with a 'one-stop service' locally. We give Korea's companies local access to accredited BSI registration."

The opening of the new facility was a prestigious event, with HM Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, HE Stephen Brown as guest of honour, together with BSI's clients, local business organisations and senior representatives from BSI's worldwide offices including Brian Davies, Managing Director, Quality Services International, from BSI's headquarters in London.

The Ambassador said: "I am delighted to celebrate the opening of this new facility which will be an important commercial centre in Seoul. I wish BSI Quality Services Korea every success."
