BSI is an Approved Assessors for GULF SQAS Assessments

The Gulf Sustainability and Quality Assessment System program (SQAS) has now been launched by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA). BSI is pleased to announce that it has been approved by the GPCA to provide Transport Service assessments for GULF SQAS.

This has been designed to promote sustainability, flexibility and transparency in the supply chain across the GCC region. Gulf SQAS is a system used to evaluate the environment, health and safety, security and quality (EHSS&Q) performance of Logistic Service Providers (LSP) and Chemical Distributors. It will be carried out by an independent assessor in a uniform manner, through a single standardized assessment questionnaire.

This will provide the Petrochemical companies with a detailed factual report, which will allow them to evaluate the LSP’s on their strengths and weaknesses. They will use this in their selection of new service providers and for their ongoing evaluation of EHSS&Q performance of their existing partner companies. The assessment modules cover four areas SQAS Transport Services, SQAS Warehouses, SQAS Tank Cleaning and SQAS Rail.

An SQAS assessment does not lead to a certificate but offers a detailed factual report which each chemical company needs to evaluate according to its own requirements.
