Qatar Transport Company (MOWASALAT) achieves another milestone

For over five years, Mowasalat has met highly stringent procedures in relation to the environment and occupational health and safety. The high performance of the Company has been rewarded by achieving certification to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 by the British Standard Institution (BSI), including the prestigious Accreditation by ANAB and UKAS. 

Both certifications require a company to meet specific industry standards. ISO 14001 certification recognizes that Mowasalat has established and maintained sustaining and continuously improving environmental management systems, whilst, the OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety management system standard that requires Mowasalat Qatar to establish and maintain standards that control health and safety risks.Speaking about the important milestone achieved by the company, Mr. Omar Rashid, General Manager - Qatar - British Standards Institution Group Middle East WLL said: “I am delighted to be here to help mark this occasion. I applaud Mowasalat for leading by example with their push to achieve first class global standards across their organization. It’s an evidence of Mowasalat’s continuous efforts and commitment to best practices. I would like to congratulate the entire project team, senior management and all staff members who were involved in this project! ”

This accomplishment is the result of the whole company working together to develop and maintain the integrated management systems. Mowasalat is also proud to be able to demonstrate its certification with the use of the BSI assurance mark on all vehicles ’’ said the HSE Manager, Dr. Salah Saeed Abdalmogith. The aim of OHSAS 18001 is to assist organizations in managing and controlling their health and safety risks and continually improving their OH&S performance. In response to customer demand for an occupational health and safety management system that can be assessed objectively, certified credibly, and recognized internationally, the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) standards are developed for use by all types of organizations and industries.”
