Emirates ID discusses developing its management standards with a senior delegation from BSI

The Emirates Identity Authority and the British Standards Institution stressed their interest to mutually work on establishing global standards in the field of advanced identity systems management. This should also support governments’ efforts aimed at enhancing the security of their citizens, developing their services and eliminate identity theft crimes.

The two sides agreed on bolstering cooperation to develop specifications and protocols relating to linking Emirates Identity systems with beneficiaries and exchange knowledge, scientific researches and studies which support the identity industry and contribute in enhancing its development horizons.

H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General received yesterday an official delegation from the British Standards Institution headed by Sir David Brown, its Chairman. The delegation included Director General of Middle East and Europe, Head of Middle East and North Africa Region and a number of officials.

The two sides also discussed bolstering cooperation aimed at broadening accreditation and compliance to the best global standards in the field of quality related to the advanced identity industry. This falls in line with the Emirates ID’s future plans and continuous efforts to comply with international requirements in the fields of environment, health, safety and institution management.

Dr. Al Khouri emphasized the Authority’s keenness to strengthen its cooperation with BSI seeking to implement the highest global standards in the field of information security and utilizing the most sophisticated technologies in order to ensure confidentiality of customers’ data.

He called for boosting efforts aimed at developing international standards and controls for the advanced identity management systems which should in turn support governments quest to adopt systems that meet the requirements of their institutions and citizens and shift towards the knowledge economy.

Dr. Al Khouri briefed the delegation on a number of projects and strategic initiatives undertaken by the Authority and how these helped support other development projects in the country.

For his part, Sir Brown commended the great advancement achieved by the UAE in the different fields, praising the strategic leading projects developed by Emirates ID which became a model in the advanced identity projects domain worldwide.

Emirates ID honored BSI for its leading and distinguished march in the field of quality and excellence and in appreciation of its efforts in developing the digital identity science and standards and adoption of modern technology to streamline customer procedures at public and private entities.

At the end of the meeting, H.E. Dr. Al Khouri handed Emirates ID honor shield to Sir David Brown.
