What’s this webinar about?

Diversity and inclusion have become hugely important to organizations worldwide, yet many still aren’t confident they understand the issues or know what actions to take to address D&I in their own workplace. This webinar introduces BS ISO 30415:2021 Human resource management. Diversity and inclusion, a new international standard that gives guidance on achieving diversity and inclusion in organizations of all sizes, sectors and types.

Helena Barrell joined BSI as a Standards Development Manager in 2019. She manages a range of UK standards committees, which include HCS/1/2 International Human Capital Standards, HCS/1 Human Capital Standards and KMS/1 Knowledge Management Systems. Prior to working at BSI, Helena gained experience in publishing, with editorial roles at a professional membership body and in the charity sector.

Helge Hoel is Professor Emeritus at the University of Manchester, an international expert on bullying and harassment in the workplace. He has written and contributed to books, articles and reports in the area of bullying, violence and harassment, including for the ILO and the European Parliament. He is a founding member of the International Association on Bullying and Harassment (IAWBH). He was Director of the University of Manchester Fairness at Work Research Centre (FairWRC), now part of the Work and Equalities Institute (WEI), which played a key role in developing the first British standard on Diversity and Inclusion (BS 76005).

Lorelei is a global human capital management consultant-practitioner and a recognized thought leader in ISO HR management standards. She leads G2nd Systems, a global HR consultancy, and leverages her experience, expertise, and advocacy mindset as a strategic resource to strengthen global organizational effectiveness and sustainability and to enhance HR management across multilingual and multicultural workplaces.

She has served on non-profit board of directors and governance committees and is the current Chair of the US mirror committee to ISO Technical Committee 260, and is an ISO Registered Expert, which included being Project Leader for ISO 30415:2021 HR Management – diversity and inclusion.

Her research and practice interests include people management aspects of environmental, social governance (ESG), including intangible assets of organizations, ethical and socially responsible AI, diversity and inclusion, workforce leadership development, workplace communication, and organizational processes and practices, as they are applied to global talent management, workforce mobility, organizational performance metrics.

She has devoted her life to helping non-native English speakers address inequity due to English proficiency and perceptions associated with accents; as well as serving the roles of women at work. This includes a strong commitment to inclusive professional communication, social responsibility, and fostering and applying ethical values and practices among all stakeholders.

She serves as a Board of Directors member, WBEC-West, a WBENC (Woman Business Enterprise National Council) Regional Partner Organization (https://wbec-west.com/board-of-directors/ ), and Board member, Centre for Global Inclusion (https://centreforglobalinclusion.org/about/board-of-directors/ ).

A Chartered Fellow of CIPD Heather has had a varied career spanning employment, people management, educational quality assurance and regulatory compliance. 

As Senior Adviser - Standards, Heather currently represents the CIPD as an expert on British and International Standards Committees - her focus is on ensuring that CIPD’s voice, its evidence-based points of view and research insights inform the development of British National and International standards in the domain of people management and development.

As the independent Chair of the BSI’s International Human Resource Management Committee, she is responsible for UK input to the work of ISO Technical Committee 260 on Human Resource Management. She has actively participated in the development of BSI’s Valuing People suite of standards and in the work of ISO TC260 since 2010, including the development of standards concerning workforce planning, human capital reporting, impact of hire, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement and HR terminology.

She is a co-editor of the book Human Capital Management Standards – A complete Guide.

Cristina has worked in Australia and internationally specialising in all aspects of governance and executive management, coaching and mentoring, training and workforce development, organisational quality reviews, standards development and audit and events management. 

A serving member on Standard Australia’s (SA) Human Resource Management Committee she is their nominated expert on the International Standards Organisation’s (ISO) Human Resource Management working groups for Diversity and inclusion and Learning and development. She is also a national Steering Committee member of the Health Benefits of Good Work (HBGW) consortium, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Training and Development and Charter Member of the Australasian Evaluation Society.

She is currently Co Principal of IPM Solutions a management consultancy and financial services company and Executive Advisor to the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC).  In the recent past she has served for 9 years as CEO of ASORC; Board member & Company Secretary of the Australian Institute of Training and Development and National L&D Specialist at the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency Ltd.

Cristina has over 30 years’ experience working on culturally diverse projects whilst holding positions such as Member of the NSW Premier’s Council for Women, Member of the Federal Non-English Speaking Background Women’s Council - which reported directly to Prime Minister of Australia and, Commissioner (member), WA Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission.

Her qualifications include a Masters in Education; Diploma in Quality Auditing; Advanced Diploma in Management; Cert Facilitator Training (Disability).

In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Kevin played a leading role in developing the Metropolitan Police's approach to diversity and inclusion. Kevin has significant experience of the aftermath of Stephen Lawrence’s murder and subsequent inquiry. For his work on this, he was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in the 2006 NY Honours List. He was involved in the construction of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games venues. Kevin also managed diversity and inclusion at Network Rail, where he became a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and achieved Assoc CIPD status.  Kevin has contributed to the development of BS76005 and ISO30415.  In 2019, he joined Mace as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead working on the HS2 project.  Kevin was recently accepted as a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
