Health & Safety

Some organizations find effective health and safety management brings great
business benefit, yet despite this many fail to manage this discipline well and so:

  • 2.1 million people were suffering from an illness they believed was caused
or made worse by their current or past work
  • 229 workers were killed at work, a rate of 0.8 per 100 000 workers
  • 34 million days were lost overall (1.4 days per worker), 28 million due
to work-related ill health and 6 million due to workplace injury

As a result of major accidents at work in recent years, greater emphasis has been placed on the management of occupational health and safety (OH&S) in legislation, which all employers MUST embrace.

BSI British Standards' publications will make you aware of your responsibilities as an employer and can help you implement an effective health and safety management strategy. They have been developed to save lives and reduce injury, whilst improving your business reputation and helping you, through compliance, to avoid costly payouts.
