The Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) was adopted throughout the European Union to provide a legislative framework for equipment liable to be a pressure hazard. Its purpose is to harmonize national laws of Member States regarding the design, manufacture, testing and conformity assessment of pressure equipment and assemblies of pressure equipment.
It is important for manufacturers of items such as pressurized storage containers, heat exchangers, steam generators, biolers, industrial piping, safety devices and pressure accessories to know that products are safe, meet essential safety requirements, satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures and carry CE marking.
