British Standards Online (BSOL) Terms & Conditions

Users of 'British Standards Online Service' (Subscription Modules) containing British Standards are reminded that copyright subsists in all standards. Standards in this service incorporate both visible and invisible watermarks. In particular, and without limitation, the following restrictions are to be observed in relation to copying:

1.  Each user within a licensed subscription may print one hard copy of any standard within their subscription for internal use on the licensed site. These copies may not be used to build up a hard copy reference collection. A hard copy reference collection is defined as a collection comprising more than 10% of the number of Standards within the module(s) subscribed to. Such licensed copies must be destroyed on expiry and subsequent non-renewal of the relevant subscription.

2.  Where a licensee has a specification or tender requirement to reproduce a British Standard as part of his documentation for external submission, the necessary pages of the Standard, including the whole document if required, may be reproduced and submitted.

3.  Under no circumstances is the Licensee permitted to reproduce all or part of any British Standard contained in the British Standards Online Service for external use or for use on any other site or group of sites, except as defined in 1 or 2 above.

4.  The licensed user may copy a maximum of 25% of the content of a British Standard within the subscribed module(s) and paste it to another document for internal use within the licensed site. The copied content in the new document must contain "Copyright BSI © Date (where date is the date of copyrighted material)". Such content is licensed for use only for the duration of the subscription.

5.  Each user within a licensed subscription may download a single electronic copy of a standard. These copies may not be used to build up an electronic reference collection. An electronic reference collection is defined as a collection comprising more than 10% of the number of Standards within the module(s) or equivalent. Such downloaded electronic copies must be removed on expiry and subsequent non-renewal of the relevant subscription. Standards may not be copied or circulated electronically, including by electronic mail, even for internal use within the licensed site.

6.  Users who wish to send extracts or complete standards to another site within their group are invited to apply to the BSI Licensing Department for an extension to these Terms and Conditions.
