BS EN 71-1:2005+A9:2009
Safety of toys. Mechanical and physical properties


BS EN 71-1 specifies requirements and test methods for the mechanical and physical properties of toys. It is applicable to all toys designed for children under 14 to play with under normal use, including balls, bicycles , kites and balloons.  Specific requirements are given for toys for children under 36 months - for example swings and soft filled toys intended for holding or cuddling. This European Standard also specifies requirements for packaging, marking and labelling, test methods and instructions for use.
