With the Internet changing the way we now share information and do business, organizations are coming under increasing pressure to ensure their websites can boast optimal ‘user experience’. This typically means generating content that is dynamic, engaging, easily navigable and enhanced by robust functionality. At the same time, there is also a corporate need to track return-on-investment in online services.
BSI British Standards has published best practice guidance on commissioning websites that are accessible to, and usable by, disabled people (PAS 78 and BIP 0090) and a specification (PAS 124) to help organisations manage website standards efficiently, exploit their potential and help deliver measurable performance.
PAS 124 outlines a best practice approach to website standards throughout the website life cycle, starting with the initial planning and definition stage. It is aimed at public and private organizations with public websites, intranets or extranets.
