How to Get Involved

BSI British Standards is actively seeking to bring together all those with significant interest in Regenerative Medicine standardisation projects.

  • consumer organizations
  • professional institutions
  • certification, testing and inspection bodies
  • educational establishments
  • research organizations
  • UK notified bodies
  • enforcement bodies
  • government departments.

BSI British Standards also works with many trade associations or equivalent organizations as a means of representing most standards users in business. This enables a wide measure of consultation and support in standards work.

All participation is on a voluntary basis, and there are a number of different ways that you can be involved in helping to develop standards:

Become a Committee Member

There are currently 1,350 BSI British Standards committees across all technology areas with approximately 10,000 Members. All Committee Members give their time and expertise on a voluntary basis often with the support of their employer or trade association. The commitment required varies between and within committees, depending on the current work programme and the level of participation. Most committees only meet a few times each year but some members will also attend European and international meetings abroad.

Become a Consumer Policy Committee Representative

The Consumer Policy Committee (CPC) of BSI gives consumers a voice in the standards-making process. It is responsible for ensuring that where standards exist for a product or service that we buy or use, that these standards are able to meet our needs and expectations.

Today, every BSI British Standards technical committee that deals with products or services used by consumers will have a consumer representative or will be able to call upon the CPC for consultation.

CPC's representatives are all volunteers. They have diverse backgrounds and provide a breadth of viewpoint that formal qualifications alone cannot provide.

Representatives are recruited, trained and supported by a BSI British Standards staff team. Part of its role is to keep people informed of work going on and evaluate areas where input is needed. This happens at committee working level, but also increasingly in wider policy issues both within BSI British Standards and the consumer world more generally.

Comment on Drafts for Public Comment (DPCs)

Standards documents are circulated for Public Comment in order to get comments from as wide an audience as possible. The DPC stage occurs during drafting in national, European and international arenas and is an important part of the standards development process. Visit the Drafts for Public Comment webpage for more information.
