The following international and European standards specify the requirements for protective footwear for use in different environments.
BS EN 15090:2006 specifies minimum requirements and test methods for the performance of three types of footwear for use by firefighters for general-purpose rescue, fire rescue and hazardous materials emergencies.
This standard does not cover special personal protective equipment used in high-risk situation (for example, the conditions described in ISO 15538).
