Safety4Business
Working Safely, the online edition of the universally acclaimed Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH) health and safety course, has been designed to train workers to ensure that their actions contribute to health and safety in the workplace, and that their individual responsibilities are clearly understood.
The course enables employees to understand their health and safety responsibilities; recognize workplace hazards and risks; implement safety precautions and add value to your organization’s health and safety performance.
This CD-ROM and online version of the market leading paper-based Working Safely title, offers a number of additional benefits to the traditional format, including the ability to learn at one’s own pace, scheduling the training to ensure work activities are not disrupted, portability of learning and cost-effectiveness.
Working safety follows the established IOSH syllabus and is structured as four learning modules, each module containing a series of smaller ‘learning units’.
Course outline
The course is in six parts, consisting of five modules and a final assessment.
- Module 1 Working Safely. An introduction to the course.
- Module 2 Defining hazard and risk. Looking at what is a hazard and risk assessment
- Module 3 Identifying common hazards. This is the main part of the course and looks at most of the dangers the learner is likely to encounter at work.
- Module 4 Improving safety performance. A look at how organizations should go about improving long term health and safety performance.
- Module 5 Protecting our environment. Looking at reducing pollution and waste.
- Final assessment. Effective learning is evaluated by means of 30 multiple-choice and health and safety hazard questions.
Course features
- Fully downloadable task-book
The task book blends practical exercise and observations with the skills and knowledge acquired during the e-leaning activity. It is intended to help the learner to transfer what they have learned about specific health and safety topics to the ‘real life’ environment of their own workplace. Full instructions on how to use it are contained within the Task Book itself.
- Tutor support
Online tutor support via email or fax is available for students who do not have access to a suitably qualified health and safety professional.
- Certification
An IOSH ‘Working Safely’ certificate is awarded to all those who undertake the course and successfully complete both the course units and final assessment.
