At the recent BSI Efficient Energy Management Conference (25 June 2008) there were almost 40 attendees from the industry who discussed the suite of standards currently under development which include the following:
- Energy management systems
- Energy efficiency services (ESCOs)
- Energy audits
- Energy certificates/guarantees of origin
- Benchmarking
- Energy efficiency in transport
- Energy saving calculations (bottom up and top down methodologies)
- Energy managers & experts
BS EN 16001 Energy Management Systems - Requirements with guidance for use will be published towards the end of 2009. Those who attended the conference were extremely positive and supportive of the development of this standard and a repeat of the conference in 2009 will allow potential users to learn even more about its benefits and implementation.
