The national standards body of Lithuania (LST) wished to join the European regional standards bodies of CEN and CENELEC. Following a review of LST to meet the membership criteria, a number of actions to improve their operations were determined, including:
- identification and translation of European harmonized standards to be adopted by Lithuania
- improvement of processes of the WTO Enquiry Point and support in meeting the obligation of EC Directive 98/34/EC on notification of standards development
- support and training to improve the quality management system of LST
- support to improve a standards information department, including the provision of IT equipment and software, and advice on the marketing and sale of standards products
- developing the translation facilities at LST, including quality procedures and consistency of the terminology
- establishing facilities and equipment for the training department, and organizing training events to promote the services of LST.
