- Standardization: including developing national, European and international standards, document preparation and management, technical committee training, consumer and other stakeholder policy development, requirements for regional and international standards body membership, database development and record keeping (98/34/EC and WTO TBT notification), standards information management and catalogues, electronic delivery, marketing, sales administration and distribution of standards and related publications.
- Regulation: including stakeholder research, preparation of draft regulation, consultation, transposition of EU directives, establishing national quality fora, promoting consumer involvement and establishing technical regulations/standards frameworks.
- Systems Certification: including quality management (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO14001, EMAS, sustainability management and greenhouse gas verification services), heath and safety management (OHSAS 18001), food safety (ISO 22000), information security (BS 7799), and benchmarking and training (ISO/IEC 17024).
- Product Certification: including CE marking processes, testing procedures for European standards, notified body and competent authority requirements, laboratory quality management (ISO/IEC 17025), equipment calibration, commodity inspection (ISO/IEC 17020) and market surveillance.
- Accreditation and Metrology: including establishing quality infrastructures, managing conflicts of interest, promoting and assisting in become a member of regional and international organizations, and establishing quality procedures (ISO/IEC 17011) and establishing certification bodies (ISO/IEC 17021).
- Supporting UK Trade and Investment: by providing education and support to government departments involved in trade promotion. For example, providing e-learning training for UKTI staff on “Overcoming Technical Barriers to Trade”
