The course raises awareness of a 'best practice' approach to understandaing the legal aspects of standards.
Course objectives
Helps members involved in standardization:
- Follow the legal aspects and guidelines in working with standards
- Have an understanding of the Royal Charter, ground rules, effects and associated membership
- Gain insight into the legal status of British Standards, the aims and categories
- Develop an overview of the use of standards in contracts
- Discuss the current UK approach to standards
- Gain insight into the standards and committee structure
- Discuss the committees’ legal responsibilities, the interpretation of standards, litigation, copyright, patents, confidentiality
- Gain insight into types of International standards
