We look forward to working with you in 2012. 2011 was a busy year for all involved in Standards work. A big thank-you goes to you all for your continued work with BSI in standards development in these resource challenging times. You efforts are very much appreciated and make a big difference to the quality and impact of the standards that we produce.
2012 will be bringing in the changes
- A new Director of Standards – Dr Scott Steedman will join us in January 2012 and will work alongside Mike Low until his retirement later in the year.
- The implementation of BS0:2011 will be top of our agenda – helping to bring you up to speed with the changes
- Committee Membership is now CPD accredited
- And a new format for your newsletter – help us to focus on the news and information that is most relevant to you.
I hope you enjoy the news items in this edition and please let us know of any bulletins or news you would like to include in future editions.

Further to our announcement in a previous newsletter, we are pleased to report that the CPD certificates for Committee Membership have now been approved and are available on request.

In 2011 we put in place a new approach to the Standards Makers’ Forum and it would seem from the feedback of attendees that this has been well received.

In May, past and current members of the BSI Consumer & Public Interest Network had a party at Lincoln’s Inn, to celebrate 60 years since the Women’s Advisory Committee was formed to help ensure that British Standards took into account the user view.

StandarDays is a two day information session aimed at newcomers to European standardization, as well as those who would like to understand the CEN and CENELEC Systems better.

We have now run three Convenor Workshops, with over 150 attendees. These interactive, informal sessions are extremely popular.
