The CHESSS Initiative - Update

CHESSS_initiativeBy the time this newsletter is published, the CHESSS Initiative will have completed the second of four information gathering stages in its programme. The world café discussions in London, Tallinn, Copenhagen and Madrid will have run their course and work will have begun on reviewing, grouping, analysing and summarising the hundreds of interesting opinions, comments and suggestions that have been generated. The feedback from participants at the first three events has been broadly supportive of the CHESSS objectives and of the World Café experience. Given the positive experience gained to date, the CHESSS team are looking forward to delivering the final event in Madrid from 20-22 November.

The next phase (December 2007 to March 2008) will see the CHESSS team conducting a series of face to face interviews with key stakeholders from across the services sector, to further examine the issues that have emerged, before development of their preliminary module reports. These will be presented and reviewed at a seminar in Brussels (2/3 April 2008). This seminar is open to all stakeholders and BSI Committee members with an interest in improving the general availability and delivery of good quality services, whether business to business or business to customer. This will be a great opportunity to meet the whole CHESSS team and contribute to and influence the final report to the European Commission so please register your interest in attending via the CHESSS website (www.chesss.eu). We will also welcome suggestion from Committee Members as to potential interview partners. Those nominated should have known experience in the service sector and be willing to devote 60 to 90 minutes to a structured, in depth discussion.

Registration for the seminar is available via the website and the CHESSS team look forward to sharing the debate at the Brussels seminar with as many BSI committee members as possible. For those stakeholders unable to attend the Brussels seminar, we would welcome any written comments you may wish to share. Details of how to comment will be made available via the website, early in 2008. The next issue of this newsletter will also carry information in this respect

In the meantime, do try and stay engaged with the initiative, whether through monitoring the website or direct contact with the CHESSS team. By design, CHESSS is a wide reaching study with potential to benefit service users throughout Europe. In this respect it is as much your project as ours.
