2006 is the IEC centenary and events are being held throughout the year to celebrate 'the electric century'.
A special part of the IEC website has been developed to cover the celebrations and provides an amazing collection of information including:
- pictures of past presidents and general secretaries
- a list of events such as the BEC centenary dinner in June and the IEC general meeting in Berlin in September
- posters and screen saver wallpapers to download.
In addition, IEC are running a centenary challenge: in partnership with IEE, IEEE and VDE, and in association with The Economist, the IEC is offering cash prizes to teaching or research staff from the world's academic institutes for the three best papers about the economic, business and social impact of International Standards on business.
