ICE survey on committee participation

Image: ICE logoBSI has been working with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) on a survey aimed at finding out more about ICE member participation on British Standards' committees. Traditionally the standards work had been national but now the industry was gearing up to the implementation of new European standards including Eurocodes.

The survey findings will be reported shortly. What was reassuring to note from the survey results was that 88% of respondees considered the service provided by BSI, to meet or mostly meet the various defined service levels. Nevertheless there is always room for improvement and it is hoped that this survey will enable ICE and BSI to further improve the effectiveness of standardization activities in the civil engineering sector. The survey also highlighted the feeling of ICE members that more professional civil engineers needed to be attracted to participate in the development of standards.
