Machinery Directive (98/37/EC)

Best equipped to help you achieve Machinery Directive compliance

The Machinery Directive (98/37/EC) specifies health and safety requirements which must be met before machinery may be placed on the market and put into service anywhere within the EU Community. This includes machinery built for own use.

The term ‘Machinery’ covers any equipment for domestic, commercial or industrial applications that has parts actuated by a power source. It can be an assembly of linked parts or components, at least one of which moves, as well as an assembly of machines arranged and controlled so that they function as an integral whole, such as production lines and conveyor systems. The Directive also applies to individual Safety Components, designed to fulfil a safety function within a system when in use, placed on the market separately.
