The RoHS Directive

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive comes into force on the 1st July 2006 and will restrict the use of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, and two Brominated flame retardants (PBB & PBDE). These restrictions affect a broad range of products falling into eight product categories.

The RoHS Directive will affect everyone within the electronics supply chain. This is due to the fact that the end producer’s ability to comply with the RoHS Directive is entirely dependent upon the entire supply chain of all parts, materials, sub-assemblies and components used to make the electrical and electronic equipment.
