Kitemark® for processes

The Kitemark® has served as a mark of quality, integrity and trust for products since it was first introduced more than 100 years ago.  Now the Kitemark® can be applied to process activities, bringing with it the same levels of reassurance for specifiers and purchasers, whatever the business sector.

Where process activities follow prescribed methods, or where specified manufacturing equipment and materials are used, an agreed process specification can be developed to form the basis of certification.

A consensus-based publicly available specification (PAS) can be developed in consultation with key stakeholders using BSI’s fast-track standards development methodology: a process-based PAS and related Kitemark® scheme for vehicle body repair will become available later in 2006.

All process-based Kitemark® schemes involve a pre-licence audit against the relevant standard, including an assessment of process management controls, on an on-going basis.

Gaining the competitive advantage of the Kitemark® is straightforward, but not easy! Successful companies earn the right to use the Kitemark® in association with marketing and promotional material relating to the process concerned. To maintain this right, BSI carries out regular inspection visits against the standard.
