Vodafone UK achieves ISO 27001 Information Security Management System Certification

Press release

2 September 2010

Vodafone UK has attained the globally recognized ISO 27001 certification relating to its provision of IT services covering application hosting, data management, technical support and consultancy for its business customers.

ISO 27001 is the only international standard to define the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). It provides a model for establishing, operating, reviewing and improving an Information Security Management System.

Adding to its recent Business Continuity Management (BCM) certification to BS 25999, Vodafone UK can now offer customers international and independently verifiable assurance of effective information security management in its processes, governance and legal compliance, internal controls and business continuity. The ISO 27001 award also coincides with Vodafone UK’s successful three-yearly re-certification to ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management.

Jeni Mundy, Chief Technical Officer, Vodafone UK, said: "Our customers take their businesses seriously and they want to know that we do too. By attaining the ISO 27001 certification, it demonstrates that we continue to deliver the most reliable and secure information systems for our customers on the UK’s best network."

Andrew Morris, Business Development Director at BSI EMEA, said, "Certification to ISO 27001 is a further demonstration of Vodafone’s commitment to its customers and to having robust processes in place to minimize business risk."
