What will I learn?
On attaining the Certificate, award holders will possess an understanding of the Freedom of Information Act in its widest context along with its links with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
Delegates will gain an understanding of the types of information being requested and the types of information required within a Publication Scheme.
Award holders will also posses the skills necessary to develop procedures for the processing and monitoring of a request for information, from receipt of the request through to the disclosure of information including:
Applying any appropriate exemptions or exceptions and calculating fees
Balancing any exemptions or exceptions against the public interest test
Understanding the enforcement procedures contained within in the legislation
