The Construction Products Regulation (CPR 305/2011)

What is the Construction Products Regulation?

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) has been adopted by the European Commission and replaces the Construction Products Directive (CPD). It is now mandatory for products which fall under the scope of the regulation to have CE marking.

Who is the Regulation for?

According to the Regulation, the requirement for CE marking applies to:

"any product or kit which is produced and placed on the market for incorporation in a permanent manner in construction works or parts thereof and the performance of which has an effect on the performance of the construction works with respect to the basic requirements for construction works."

To find out whether your product falls within the scope of CPR, your product has to comply with the intended use of the harmonised European Standard published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).

What products do we test?

If you manufacture or import products that are within the scope of the Regulation, you will be required to declare that the product complies with the Regulation and display the CE mark before they can be sold in the UK and Europe. There are currently over 400 Harmonized standards (hEN’s) that are covered by CPR.
