Scope of ISPO Certification

1. Oil Palm Processing Entity
2. Oil Palm Cultivation Entity
3. Integration Oil Palm Cultivation Entity and Oil Palm Processing Entity

Application to ISPO Certification Body, attaching:

1. Oil Palm Plantation Company:

• Plantation business permit - Izin Usaha Perkebunan,
• Legal ownership of the land - bukti kepemilikan hak atas tanah,
• Environmental permit - Izin Lingkungan,
• Plantation business evaluation - Penetapan Kelas Kebun (Kelas Kebun I – III, Pasal 9 Peraturan Menteri Pertanian No.38 Tahun 2020),
• has minimum of 2 internal auditors or minimum 5 internal auditors for Group – passed the ISPO training.

2. Oil Palm Grower (Individual/Group):

• Plantation registration – Surat Tanda Daftar Usaha Perkebunan,
• Legal ownership of the land – bukti kepemilikan hak atas tanah,
• Environmental management statement – Surat Pernyataan Pengelolaan Lingkungan,
• If the grower is forming a group, shall establish Internal Control System

Special Audit conducted outside regular audit cycle and the mechanism sets by ISPO Certification Body (ref. Peraturan Menteri Pertanian No.38 Tahun 2020 – Chapter 40). The Special Audit conducted on the basis:

• Application for Extension to Scope into ISPO Certification
• To follow up complaint and/or appeal
• To follow up changes in management and/or ownership

ISPO Certification Transfer; valid ISPO certificate can be transferred to other ISPO Certification Body, on the basis:

• Application from certificate holder (after 1 certification cycle – 5 years)
• ISPO Certification Body’s accreditation withdrawn.

Supply Chain System

• A system to regulate/guarantee ISPO certified oil palm product maintained its integrity in all phases, starting from raw material, processing, transporting until final acceptance.
• ISPO product integrity guaranteed through supply chain inspection mechanism (at exporter level), carried out by independent third-party Certification Body/Inspection Body referring to ISO 17020.

Supply Chain Model

• Mass Balance: Product came from ISPO certified FFB sources and non-ISPO certified FFB sources.
• Segregation: Product came from ISPO certified FFB sources.

Supply Chain assessment criteria in ISPO certification shall be applicable within 5 years after Peraturan Menteri Pertanian No.38 Tahun 2020 issued.

Certificate holder is allowed to use ISPO logo as regulated under Keputusan Direktur Jenderal Perkebunan Nomor: 348/Kpts/OT.050/12/2020 Tentang Pedoman Pencantuman Logo Penyelenggaraan Sertifikasi Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan Indonesia.

If there is dissatisfaction during ISPO certification decision process or determination, applicant can submit:

1. Complaint to ISPO Certification Body
2. Appeal to ISPO Certification Body

A complaint can be submitted by independent observer; certificate holder; or impacted communities. Complaint addressed to ISPO Certification Body, attaching documented requirements:

1. Written complaint and signed by the complainant or someone with authorized of power.
2. Supporting documents
3. Solution for problem solving

Should applicant dissatisfied with the complaint handling process, can submit an appeal process to Komite ISPO.

PT. BSI Group Indonesia will report the complaint handling process to Minister of Agriculture.
