PAS 1188 Flood Products Workshop

Join us at our PAS 1188 Flood Products Workshop

Date: 23 November 2016

Location: BSI - Chiswick

Duration: 9:30 to 16:00

PAS 1188 is an important series of documents for flood products, which should grow in importance as climate change continues.

The Environment Agency has indicated that PAS 1188 is mature enough to go forward as a full British Standard. As well as the need for discussion on the leakage rates, there might be some proposals for modification and perhaps simplifying the testing regime. The committee responsible for this area did discuss some associated issues, which ought to be considered alongside any update. These include, but may not include all issues:

  • Concerns over the performance of some fitted products, based on Defra and other collected data, and whether lessons can be learned from this to feed into the new British Standard
  • The desire to include flood surveys as part of the British Standard, to link up the work that Defra has been funding, and which ought to be a key step in deciding the correct flood products to use
  • The additional ‘Installation Kitemark’ that has caused so much concern in the industry and whether this should be incorporated into a single document

Given the wide range of issues, we would like to invite you to participate in an industry-wide workshop which will outline theses various issues before the work on the new British Standard begins.

The workshop will aim to discuss:

  • Leakage rates
  • Performance of fitted products
  • Flood surveys
  • Kitemark
  • Any other issues and gaps in the standard

By attending the workshop you will:

  • Have the opportunity to influence the future of the standard, while still achieving consensus
  • Identify the gaps in the existing standard and suggest improvements
  • Network with industry professionals

The event will be of interest all those involved in flood protection including:

  • Flood risk products professionals
  • Local authorities
  • Insurers
