ISO 20400 - DIS Launch Event

International standard for sustainable procurement to be launched for public consultation.
Learn more about the standard and how to have your say at Loughborough University on 30 November

Sustainable procurement is a process that ensures only goods and services that are really needed are purchased, and buying items or services whose net effect of production, delivery, use and disposal minimize negative impacts and encourage positive outcomes for the environment, economy and society.

In 2010 BSI published BS 8903, its guide to procuring sustainably, on the basis of pioneering work that emerged from the UK government’s ‘Procuring the Future’ strategy. Now the UK experts involved in the development of BS 8903 are members of the ISO committee producing an international standard  that will support sustainable procurement along global supply chains.
The consultation draft of ISO 20400, the international standard for sustainable procurement, will be made available for public comment in the UK on 13 November.

Come to Loughborough University on 30 November 2015 to hear from UK experts involved in the drafting of ISO 20400 and from a range of industry stakeholders who have benefitted from implementing BS 8903, and learn how to make your input into the development of this innovative international standard.
