Responsible sourcing standardization - Stakeholder forum

Free event

Date: Monday 21 October 2013

Location: etc.venues, One Drummond Gate, Victoria, London, SW1A 2QQ

Take a driving seat on our journey towards responsible sourcing standardization. Help us find out whether the development of standards initiatives in the area of responsible sourcing has a potential to benefit the sustainability industry in the UK, and advance businesses and the way they source responsibly and cost effectively.

Recent research commissioned by BSI suggests a number of directions in which standards and related products/services might be developed. An expert panel of speakers will share the outcomes of this research and we would like your opinion about the findings.

This event provides a unique opportunity to get together with your peers and colleagues, and explore the needs and options for subsequent standards development in specific areas of responsible sourcing and how such standards could benefit industry.

Your expertise, knowledge and opinions matters to us, and will enable us to gain a better understanding of how to:

  • Reduce consumer confusion, consolidate and build upon existing effort, and advance responsible sourcing initiatives
  • Improve consumer confidence
  • Expand responsible sourcing networks and principles to enable producers to manage their costs effectively
  • Advance the market development in responsibly sourced products/commodities.

Finally, by actively participating and sharing your experiences, we will explore opportunities for collaborative standardization initiatives and try to answer questions such as:

  • Is there a need for a framework standard on responsible sourcing?
  • What are the key issues and potential solutions for standardization?
  • Do we need to establish UK leadership in sustainable production, supply and consumption?
  • How could we assist the government in employing the right strategies in the responsible sourcing market and enable UK industry to capitalize on new opportunities?
  • Are there any gaps in the current standard landscape and what might the role of UK stakeholders be in addressing these gaps?
