ABB Inc. Power & Industrial Systems and Schneider Electric awarded for single site and multi-site implementation of Quality Management Systems in Canada
(TORONTO) – BSI Group Canada Inc., a division of the world’s first National Standards Body and a founding member of the International Organization of Standardization (ISO), today announced that ABB Inc. Power & Industrial Systems and Schneider Electric have been awarded the 2014 BSI Canada Award of Excellence for Quality Management Systems. The awards were given for single site and multi-site implementation respectively.
“The judging process was made even more challenging this year because we had so many worthy candidates from across industries and regions in the country,” said Gary Robinson, Commercial Director, BSI Canada. “This tells us that Canadian companies in numerous sectors are serious about embracing and committing to business excellence.”
Single site winner, ABB Inc. Power & Industrial Systems, located in Saint Laurent, Quebec, is a global leader in power and automation technologies with excellent management systems in place for quality, occupational health and safety, and environment. ABB Inc. holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. As well, ABB is implementing Entropy™ software to drive further management system efficiencies.
Multi-site winner, Schneider Electric, a Burnaby B.C. design, repair and service company, holds ISO 9001 (since 1998), ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. Over the years, the company has shown an extremely effective management system spanning over three facilities and has adopted a risk-based approach to internal audits that already meets some of the anticipated changes in the upcoming soon-to-be issued ISO 9001 standard.
BSI Canada created the Award of Excellence in 2011 to recognize customers who excel in the implementation of international business standards. This year’s Award of Excellence judging panel consisted of a multi-disciplinary team at BSI Canada which interviewed clients, auditors, senior account managers, and other client facing personnel.
Last year’s winners were Provance Technologies, Inc. (single site), a leading provider of IT asset management software to Microsoft and Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd., (multiple site), an internationally-recognized engineering and environmental services firm.
