BSI Management Systems is delighted to announce its participation at the China launch of the new BRC Global Standard - Consumer Products. The British Retail Consortium event will take place in Guangzhou, China, from 17 to 18 April 2007.
BSI is a global provider of product and management systems third-party and customised assessment, certification and training services for both the consumer products and retail industries. BSI is proud to be an approved BRC certification body and is an accredited provider of certification to existing BRC Food and Packaging standards. As a long-time trusted service provider to the global retail industry, BSI has been invited by the BRC to be involved in this important launch event.
The Standard is supported by leading UK and international retailers such as Tesco, Metro, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Ahold, Waitrose, Co-op, Migros and others who are implementing it in their supply chain. With supply chains now more diverse and internationally spread, bringing increased risk to those managing them, the support of an accredited certification body, such as BSI, is increasingly important to the global retail industry.
The event will offer consumer goods suppliers who are doing, or would like to do business with major international retailers, the opportunity to understand retailers’ obligations to supply safe and legal products to their consumers and the requirements that manufacturing and assembly packing companies need to demonstrate in maintaining product safety, legality and integrity.
The revised and updated BRC Global Standard – Consumer Products (Issue 2) will allow suppliers to best utilise factory preparation time, man hours and audit costs for several end customers, therefore reducing their total costs of doing business with EU retailers. Certification to the standard by BSI, an independent third-party, will provide the ultimate assurance that organisations are following best practice.
The launch of the Chinese version of the Standard will be held at the Asia International Hotel during the week of the Canton Fair, the largest trade fair in China and one of the world’s largest exhibitions.
The BRC will hold three FREE supplier briefing sessions per day with guest speakers including Joy Franks, BSI Management Systems’ Global Product Manager for Food and Consumer Products Safety. Delegates will be able to learn about the Standard, hear how to implement it and understand the benefits of certification. BSI will also have an exhibition booth at the event and will have industry experts on hand to answer questions.
