Sustainable Materials

Sustainable materials is a sub-theme of sustainable development.

Sustainable materials are those selected to maximize positive social, environmental and economic contributions and to minimize negative impacts.

Benefits

Sustainable materials standards provide a best-practice framework with which organizations can compile a robust view of the relative sustainability of potential materials. This allows organizations to make better informed decisions about the materials they use and over time become more sustainable themselves.
