PAS 1000 Business Agility

To flourish in an increasingly chaotic and unpredictable environment, organizations need to develop new ways of understanding their agile capabilities, agile culture, and probable future.

This PAS proposes frameworks to aid understanding and the development of new approaches to building business agility. It covers how the organization:

  • Identifies business agility challenges
  • Identifies key industry and market drivers
  • Assesses probable future trends, changes and uncertainties
  • Aligns strategies with future mega and micro trends
  • Identifies dynamic and agile organizational capabilities
  • Identifies cultural barriers to agility
  • Reinforces agile human and other resources (dynamic capabilities)
  • Enhances an agile culture

This PAS can be adopted by any organization wishing to improve its business agility and will be of particular interest to organizations facing rapid changes likely to impact adversely on performance such as non-profit organizations, universities and some government entities that need to handle regulatory responsibilities such as foreign affairs and legal cases.

PAS 1000:2019 is developed based on TIBAI’s model and framework, is the first standard in the world addressing business agility. It covers major business aspects from an agility perspective and recommends that an organization reviews strategic and operational levels.

This PAS was sponsored by DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority). Its development was facilitated by BSI Standards Limited and it was published under license from the British Standards Institution. It came into effect on 24 January 2019.
