Msheireb Properties achieves ISO certifications in quality, environment, and occupational health & safety

Msheireb Properties (formerly Dohaland) announced that the company has achieved certifications from the British Standards Institution (BSI) for ISO standards - ISO 9001:2008(Quality Standard) and ISO 14001:2004 (Environment Standard) as well as the BS OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System).

The achievement makes Msheireb Properties one of the few companies in Qatar to have achieved certifications in all three standards simultaneously within such a short time of its existence.

Speaking about the important milestone achieved by the company, CEO Eng. Issa M. Al Mohannadi said, "It is quite a feat for any company to achieve three certifications simultaneously. These milestones underscore our commitment to one of our core values of business excellence and towards the delivery of world-class products, our adherence to quality, environment, health, safety and our responsibility to serve the customers more efficiently."

Eng. Issa received the three certifications from the British Standards Institute for ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental and BS OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety management systems from H.E. John Hawkins, British Ambassador to Qatar, in the presence of Theuns Kotze, BSI Regional Managing Director. The event, held at the company's Knowledge Enrichment Centre, was attended by officials from Msheireb Properties, BSI and the British Embassy in Qatar.

"I am delighted that Msheireb Properties has achieved ISO certifications from BSI. Msheireb Properties is a leading developer in Qatar and is playing a significant role in supporting Qatar Vision 2030. Although a young company, Msheireb Properties has succeeded in establishing best standards and practices and demonstrated a commitment to quality, culminating in certifications in quality management, environment, and health and safety," said H.E. John Hawkins.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a network of the national standards institutes of some 160 countries, with a central office in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system and publishes the finished standards. ISO standards add value to all types of business operations. They contribute to making the development, manufacturing and supply of products and services more efficient, safer and cleaner.

Msheireb Properties, formerly Dohaland, was recently rebranded in a move intended to reflect the significance of its signature project Msheireb in the company's evolution, and reaffirming its local Qatari roots. Msheireb is a pioneering development that will revive the old commercial heart of the city.

The QR20bn scheme will transform a 31-hectare site at the centre of Qatar's capital city, recreating a way of living that is rooted in Qatari culture, attracting residents back to the city centre and reversing the trend for decentralisation.

The mixed-use development will contain over 100 buildings with a combination of commercial and residential properties, retail, cultural and entertainment areas.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification places great emphasis on aligning the quality management systems closer to the processes of organizations and focus on continual improvement. The certification ensures that people in the organization have well defined and documented procedures, thus improving the consistency of output. Quality is constantly measured, repetition of jobs are avoided leading to better working conditions, increased job satisfaction and improved morale. The community at large also benefits through the fulfilment of legal and regulatory requirements, improved health and safety and reduced environmental impact.

The ISO 14001 certification provides a framework for a systematic and integrated approach for environmental management. The BS OHSAS 18001 certification provides an outline for improved organizational motivation and acceptance regarding occupational health and safety within the organization.
